Our Garden

At Montpelier, like a lot of inner city schools, space is a premium. We started our garden by building some gardening boxes around the edge of the sandpit. These boxes worked nicely for a few years but due to the expansion of the school, the space and light in this area has become a bit tight

So our garden has started to evolve its way into other corners of the school. We started a box garden upstairs which i
s smaller but way more productive. Here the children get the oppourtunity to grow veggies and herbs as well as the odd strawberry.
So we starting experimenting with Verticle gardening. First we tried our "flower tower" and then we made a pallet garden. On both accounts we quickly realized that they needed more attention then our other gardens. The definitelyly require more watering as they dry out quicker and don't have anywhere else to access water from and ground gardens do.
