Rhino Day

Our Theme for the year was LOCAL AND GLOBAL.......
We decided to focus our attention on Environmental days that highlight endangered species as this effects us globally, but we can do something about it locally.
Rhino Day is one of our favourites to celebrate and take note of at Montpelier. It has been since we starting participating in the eco schools programme. We feel very strongly that it is important for all of us to be aware of the fact that some animals, birds or other creatures are on the verge of becoming extinct and we try to help the children understand the impact that it can have on our lives.

We particularily like to take personal ownership of the animals that are on our doorstep like the rhino.
Every year we like to make some kind of a poster to make people sit up and listen. One year we made a poster out of our fingerprints, to make our mark on the problem.

Another year we made small individual posters and asked the parents if they could tape it to the inside of their car window so that we could increase the number of people who got to see our reminders whilst they were driving around.

This year we made book marks, to hand out to friends and family to keep and use.
The more we bang our drum, the more familier the children and their families are becoming with these important days.
